SIO2022 Annual Scientific Meeting

The SIO2022 Program Planning Committee looks forward to seeing you in San Francisco! The committee is excited to reconnect in person to engage in the content they are most anticipating – see further details below.

The Program Committee has been busy developing a newly refreshed schedule for SIO2022 in San Francisco. The conference should be (here’s hoping!) the first substantive, international in-person Interventional Oncology (IO) meeting in the last two years, so there is plenty of catching up to do! There are a number of cross-cutting themes including ‘Complex Cases’ and a new ‘Controversies’ session focusing on important interface debates such as embolization versus systemic regimes in HCC and ablation versus SABR in lung disease. We are seeking to expand IO practices and will be looking at ‘Getting Started’ in IRE, thyroid ablation, and cementoplasty, as well as ‘Breaking Ground’ in new areas such as breast ablation and MR-guided intervention. Come join us at the meeting in San Francisco—there is a lot of outstanding IO to sort out!” – David Breen, MD, MRCP, FRCR, University Hospitals Southampton, SIO2022 Program Planning Committee Chair

Our hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) plenary session will feature some of the most dynamic speakers in oncology. The session will cover all of the highly publicized recent developments in the treatment for HCC patients, with special focus on the impact these changes have in the IO community. The lectures are designed to cover not only our advances, but also ongoing and future challenges. This session will offer e a unique opportunity to soak up a lot of knowledge presented in a concise manner by compelling, internationally-recognized experts.” – Rony Avritscher, MD, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, SIO2022 Program Planning Committee Member

The SIO2022 program has been mindfully curated and is shaping up to explore the cutting edge of IO and IO2 from bench to bedside, while offering participants practical updates on best IO practices. Don't miss it!” – Isabel Gala Newton, MD, PhD, VA San Diego Healthcare System and UCSD Health, SIO2022 Program Planning Committee Member
